Compiling and using Report Manager from Delphi for .Net

Download the .net components from sourceforge and unpack it to a directory:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/reportman

Use Open option in File menu to open the project. It the package window is not visible then use Project Manager option in View menu.

Then right click in ReportMan.dll item and select Install option.

Install also ReportManDesign.bdsproj in the same way.

Now you can use in your VCL projects the VCLReport component in the component palette, this components are fully compatible with previous versions of Report Manager.

A sample (directory sample) is provided so you can test the functionality of the components after installation. Remember to place the path of report manager component library in your library path.

You can activate or deactivate any compilation features using rpconf.inc file. See compiling options.

Current limitations

• You must use Report Manager Designer 2.0, but select prefered save format as plain text, because dot net components does not support zlib compression. In a future, may be a 100% dot net build designer will be provided.
• ADO connections are not supported, Dot Net providers connections will be supported in later versions, you can use Borland Database Engine, MyBase, DatabaseExpress and InterbaseExpress.
• Report Maanger 2.0 is the first dot net enabled version, provided with the first Delphi for .Net provided by Borland, so the reporting engine can contain bugs related to the new technology change, if you find any problem report bugs (or send bugfixes) to sourceforge project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/reportman).
